Let the stamps breathe
Let Your Stamps Breathe: Why Proper Storage Matters
For every philatelist, the way stamps are stored is crucial. Many collectors use so‑called glassine album pages, where stamps are inserted into plastic sleeves. However, these sleeves enclose the stamp from both the front and the back, which can lead to moisture accumulation and eventually stamps sticking to the bottom foil. This may cause irreversible damage to the gum.
Fortunately, there is a solution that allows stamps to literally “breathe” – the patented MONOLEMBO system by MARINI®.

What Is the MONOLEMBO System?
With the MONOLEMBO system, the stamp is covered by a transparent foil only from the front. The back – the gum side – rests directly on the paper of the album page. This method ensures:
- natural ventilation of the stamp,
- reduced moisture risk,
- long-term, safe preservation without damaging the gum,
- a clean, professional presentation of your collection.

Why Proper Stamp Storage Is Important
Postage stamps are sensitive to humidity, temperature, and pressure. Improper storage can cause:
- paper warping,
- color changes,
- gum damage,
- loss of value.
If you want to preserve your collection in the best possible condition, we recommend using high‑quality album pages and systems that allow stamps to “breathe”.
